Stanford Social Innovation Review, 2010
Abstract: Nonprofits, like businesses, are beginning to understand the importance of design when bringing their mission and services to fruition. Innovative design inspired by local expertise can help the nonprofit sector solve social problems more effectively.
Our Take: Because nonprofit workers are not directly affected by many of the issues which their mission aims to resolve, it is difficult to understand the ways and means for doing things more effectively. Nonprofits should seek ways in letting innovation come from below and find inspiration from the people they wish to serve rather than implementing methods influenced by how they think things should be done.
